Short Bio

Parallel Duo was founded in 2016 by Zhang Guanya and Wang Xiangyue. In 2021, the ensemble was named by Danny Yeh. Both members are Shanghai Conservatory master’s graduates and board members of the Shanghai Guitar Art Association.

The duo has appeared at Shanghai Concert Hall, Shanghai Symphony Hall, CCTV, China International Import Expo, Arknights concerts, and venues across Shanghai, Xi’an, Zhengzhou, Suzhou, Ningbo, Wuhu, and beyond, while also collaborating with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Chengdu Symphony Orchestra, Danny Yeh, and Shunsuke Matsuo.

Represented by Musica de Vetro. Featured by the Future Masters platform as an ensemble of limitless possibility. Ranked No. 4 on the 2022 Damai national concert popularity list and awarded Second Prize in the 2024 BTHVN Wien Competition chamber open division.

Member Snapshot

Zhang Guanya is a guitarist, arranger, and chamber collaborator whose practice extends into pop guitar, lute, and crossover performance design.

Wang Xiangyue is a guitarist and pianist with a strong academic, lecture-concert, and teaching profile. She currently serves on the faculty of the Henan Academy of Music at Zhengzhou University and has also taught or lectured at the Shanghai Conservatory, Tongji University, and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.
